I was looking for a video to post for today's Video Friday post and found this one of a surfing lesson at Kings Beach on Blake T's YouTube channel. I've never surfed in my life but perhaps it is time for me to try. The lessons look like fun.

New garden services in Walmer
I got a mail from regular PEDP reader Gerhard Burger last night asking me if I have seen that there is a new garden service company taking over at the Walmer townhall. Perhaps the lawns and hedges will stay nice and neat now which may lead to the municipality extending the service to other parts … Continue reading New garden services in Walmer
Kings Beach and Fence surf spot
I wonder how many PE people have ever walked all the way down Kings Beach right up to the harbour wall. I did it a little while ago on a beautiful day and took this picture looking back along the beach from on top of the wall.Right next to the harbour wall is a surf … Continue reading Kings Beach and Fence surf spot

A quick stop at the tourism visitor centre at … Continue reading Madiba on the Donkin
Our own secluded Baviaans valley
One of the best parts of exploring while traveling is discovering hidden gems. Some of these hides are figuratively, as in somewhere (either a place or establishment) off the beaten track that the hordes haven't discovered yet. Sometimes you find places that are literally hidden though. One of these I found on our weekend at Baviaans Lodge … Continue reading Our own secluded Baviaans valley
Surf safe and avoid being hit
Usually the rules of surfing are unwritten rules as far as I understand. Something you have to know before you hit the waves so that you don't get hit by another surfer's board... of fist. But just in case you would like to read some of these they are posted along the beachfront like this … Continue reading Surf safe and avoid being hit
Geocaching Swag
One of the fun aspects of Geocaching, specially when you cache with children, is finding bigger caches containing SWAG. SWAG is an acronym for "Stuff We All Get" and are small trade items. The rule with SWAG is that if you want to take something you have to replace it with something of equal or … Continue reading Geocaching Swag
Addo Elephant National Park – well worth the visit
Addo Elelphant National Park is on Port Elizabeth's doorstep. Literally. Matyholweni, or the south gate as most just refer to it, is located at Colchester on the Sundays River, just outside the boundary of Nelson Mandela Bay. Up to just over a decade or so ago Addo was mostly all about elephants. Today it is so much more … Continue reading Addo Elephant National Park – well worth the visit
