After so much wind lately I could not let a much calmer morning go by without at least stopping for a look out over the Bay. I wasn't the only one it seems and I really liked the picture with this guy in his red shirt standing on the wall between McArthur Pool and Humewood.

The (second) longest bridge in South Africa
My normal route through the Karoo Heartland of the Eastern Cape when heading up north is over Cradock and Steynsburg towards Venterstad and then a short left to the Gariep Dam before hitting the N1 for Bloemfontein. Before my last trip to Johannesburg I had a closer look at the Geocaching map to see if … Continue reading The (second) longest bridge in South Africa
Tsitsikamma Forest stream
I was in the Tsitsikamma for a meeting today and pinched off a few minutes to go and sit in the forest next to a stream to plug in my soul for a quick charge. It needs a lot more than just a quick charge but it will have to do for now. I have … Continue reading Tsitsikamma Forest stream

A garage on an island?
This week's Video Friday post is one featuring a video by Alan Straton of MyPE he uploaded after a visit to Bird Island in 2014. It shows the old Bird Island Keeper's house... with a garage. Curious? Have a look.
Coral Aloes in flower
The flowering Coral Aloes in the Karoo just north of Olifantskop was stunning again this year. We really don't have to go very far from Port Elizabeth to see nature in all it's splendor.
Cape Town’s Noon Gun. An almighty BOOM!
It's a beautiful late morning in the Cape Town City Bowl. Not much of a breeze blowing and Table Mountain, without a table cloth draped over it, rises up behind the city in all her glory. Peaceful. Visitors and locals alike are going about their daily routine, heading between meetings, window shopping, grabbing a quick … Continue reading Cape Town’s Noon Gun. An almighty BOOM!
