A fishing boat sailing along Port Elizabeth's Wildside with a flock of terns on the rocks in the foreground. This is the last picture I have to post taken with my Fiji bridge camera. The camera was in the boot of my car that was stolen about two months ago. The good news is that, after what … Continue reading Birds and boat (and a new camera)

They mate for life and it is … Continue reading Black Oystercatcher
A Pale Chanting Goshawk in Addo
I have never been a big bird expert. When I started working as a tourist guide I went to a lot of effort to increase my birding knowledge, but a LBJ (little brown job) and an Overtheroadian were still the most common answers I gave when something flashed across the road as we drove along somewhere. Flamingo take-off
The Flamingo Trail in the Zwartkops Nature Reserve is ideal to get a little bit closer to birds after which the trail was name. I don't know why but I am always amazed to see the flamingos on the estuary. Not sure why cause its not like I've never seen them there before. On a … Continue reading Flamingo take-off
Egyptian Geese at Kings Beach
There is nothing as cute as a mother duck, or in this case an Egyptian Goose, swimming or walking along with a couple of babies in tow. That was the case at the Kings Beach lake until babies started to turn into messy teenagers... This is not a negative post, just one making fun with … Continue reading Egyptian Geese at Kings Beach
