The Cape Recife lighthouse is currently undergoing a face lift so it wasn't the ideal photo subject during my Cape Recife visit with the SA Tourism photographer on Monday. The lighthouse has been closed to the public for quite some time so I'm hoping this is a good sign and that it will be open again … Continue reading Lighthouse renovations

The lighthouse at Cape Recife
The Cape Recife Nature Reserve so has the potential to be Port Elizabeth's Cape Point Nature Reserve, just without the cliffs. What I'm saying is that so few people really go to Cape Recife yet there is so much to do and experience. Some of the options are visiting SAMREC, doing the Roseate Tern Hiking … Continue reading The lighthouse at Cape Recife
Storm over Algoa Bay
I visited Cape Recife Nature Reserve a little while ago and there was a bit of a storm brewing over Algoa Bay. It made for a nice contrast between the dark clouds and blue sky and a bit of late afternoon light.
The sun shines on the Wildside
The coastline from Cape Recife to Schoenmakerskop is generally known as the Wildside due to it rocky coastline and the fact that the prevailing south-easterly wind can pump out there on the best of days and make the sea well and truly rough. Glittering Cape Recife

These include Roseate tern, Antarctic tern and occasionally Damara tern with it being the best place in the country to see Roseate Tern. Now with the terns … Continue reading Terns at Cape Recife
Penguin Plod at Cape Recife
There were so much on in Port Elizabeth this past weekend that it would have been humanly impossible for one person to go to everything. On Saturday there were three fun runs, the official opening of Route 67 (I will still go and photograph all of it to post on here), the re-opening of the … Continue reading Penguin Plod at Cape Recife
Cape Recife in the distance
The western point of Algoa Bay is called Cape Recife and it is surrounded by the Cape Recife Nature Reserve. The beach on the Algoa Bay side of the point is the kind of beach that is close enough to the city to be accessible, but far enough for a person to just get away from … Continue reading Cape Recife in the distance
