One of the houses that used to belong to the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry on the edge of the Plaatbos Nature Reserve in Storms River Village. I think ownership now falls with SANParks. Some of the houses here are occupied while others like this one stands empty.

Cadillac Shack
One of the most unlikely things you may expect to find in the little village of Storms River in the Tsitsikamma on the Garden Route is a Cadillac museum. The Cadillac Shack is a small privately owned collection of these magnificent cars which can be viewed by prior appointment when in the area. Michael Caine … Continue reading Cadillac Shack
George
The town of George at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains was founded in 1811 and was the first town to be established in South Africa by the British. It was named after King George III. The town is the main commercial town on the Garden Route and is often just used by tourists as … Continue reading George
Wilderness
I have always said that if my boat had to come in I would one day retire in Wilderness on the Garden Route. Somewhere against the hillside from where I can see the ocean, mountains, lakes and beaches of this beautiful area. Wilderness is a nice central base from where visitors can explore the Southern … Continue reading Wilderness
Tsitsikamma National Park
The Tsitsikamma National Park is definitively one of my absolute favorite places on the Garden Route. It is a awesome park with such contrast and natural beauty, its hard to find anything better anywhere else. Forests, towering cliffs, black rock coastline, white waves, blue ocean, streams, beaches... I can go on and on. The park … Continue reading Tsitsikamma National Park

The Garden Route is one of South Africa's most popular tourist routes and follow the south coast from the Tsitsikamma to Mossel Bay. For travel and tourist purposes a Garden Route tour will take you from Port Elizabeth … Continue reading Tsitsikamma Forest
Knysna Sunset
The Knysna Heads is one of the best know landmarks on the Garden Route. The sea pushes into the Knysna Lagoon through the Heads, which is short for headlands. The Eastern Head has a very - and I mean VERY - upmarket residential area on it, while the Western Head is a protected area called … Continue reading Knysna Sunset

Ostrich Farms in Oudtshoorn district
Yesterday we got as far as Mossel Bay. From there to Cape Town you drive through the Overberg which is mainly farming country and not much else. If you cross the Outeniqua Mountains from Mossel Bay (on the Robertson Pass) and George (on the Outeniqua Pass) you get to the Klein Karoo. Klein comes from … Continue reading Ostrich Farms in Oudtshoorn district
The Choo Tjoe to Mossel Bay
If i suddenly dissapear for a couple of posts, don't worry. I seem to be loosing bandwidth somewhere and have a feeling that somebody is tapping in from somewhere. I'm hoping the problem will be sorted out soon. Anyway, on with the tour. One of the most popular tourist attractions on the Garden Route is … Continue reading The Choo Tjoe to Mossel Bay
