I was very excited when I saw that Renaldo Gouws had uploaded some drone footage on YouTube again. Renaldo may be best known for his political and social comment videos, but his drone videos truly are exceptional. He has upload three which I will be sharing with you on Video Friday over the next three weeks. … Continue reading Drone footage around Shark Rock Pier

A silver morning
This morning on the way to work I just had to stop below Brookes Hill and enjoy the sight of the silver ocean sparkling all the way to the horizon
Low tide next to Hobie Beach
At high tide the rocky stretch of beach between Hobie Beach and Pollok Beach is mostly covered by water, but at low tide it's all exposed and looks rather barren. Bird Rock can be seen on the horizon in the middle of the picture and Chop Rock to the left.
Low tide on the beachfront
Low tide on the beach between Hobie Beach and Pollok Beach with Bird Rock on the horison in the center of the picture and Chop Rock to the left.
Silver seas at Hobie Beach
I needed to clear my head a bit this morning and took a walk across the road from the office and down onto Hobie Beach. Lifeguards not currently on duty
It's winter at the moment and the beach is pretty much empty, especially during the week. But the lifeguard tower, although not manned at the moment, is waiting. Summer will come again and so will the beach-goers.

Pollok to Hobie
I took this picture looking from the rocks at Pollok Beach back towards Hobie Beach the other day just as the little army chopper came flying past. Was wondering if I should post the picture when I saw somebody with a similar pic as their masthead pic on Facebook. At least I'm not the only … Continue reading Pollok to Hobie
Shark Rock Pier compass
If you've ever been on the Port Elizabeth beachfront you would know Shark Rock Pier, one of Port Elizabeth's most prominent and well known landmarks. Most of us (and I say most of us because not everybody gets the opportunity to visit the beachfront on a leisure basis) have walked on the Pier, but have … Continue reading Shark Rock Pier compass
Doggy walk for Animal Welfare
Yesterday (Saturday) morning we took the sausages for a walk on the beach along with probably a hundred or so other pooches as part of a fundraiser for Animal Welfare. The weather was perfect and the dogs and their human servants had a great time out. So interesting watching everybody with the dogs of different … Continue reading Doggy walk for Animal Welfare
