The Cape Recife lighthouse is currently undergoing a face lift so it wasn't the ideal photo subject during my Cape Recife visit with the SA Tourism photographer on Monday. The lighthouse has been closed to the public for quite some time so I'm hoping this is a good sign and that it will be open again … Continue reading Lighthouse renovations

Mosaic
The massive mosaic art piece that has been created next to the Donkin Memorial and lighthouse as part of the Route 67 development has become one of the most interesting new art pieces on the Donkin Reserve. It creates a very nice approach from the flag pole to the pyramid and is best viewed from … Continue reading Mosaic
The lighthouse at Cape Recife
The Cape Recife Nature Reserve so has the potential to be Port Elizabeth's Cape Point Nature Reserve, just without the cliffs. What I'm saying is that so few people really go to Cape Recife yet there is so much to do and experience. Some of the options are visiting SAMREC, doing the Roseate Tern Hiking … Continue reading The lighthouse at Cape Recife
A true PE icon
The Donkin Reserve with the Lighthouse, Pyramid and new Route 67 located there are truly one of Port Elizabeth's main iconic attractions both from a visitor as well as landmark point of view. Glittering Cape Recife
The water around Cape Recife (and not some pretty boy vampire) glittering in the morning light. Real vampires don't glitter in sunlight anyway cause they would be incinerated. #justsaying

Donkin figures 1
The fact that each of the figures in the Donkin Reserve Voting Line art piece is modeled on an individual person means that they make for very interesting photographic subjects.
Stealth plane on the Donkin?
I took a walk around the Donkin Reserve the other day to look for angles I haven't photographed before. The revamp is nearing its completion and I can't wait to head back there once all is done. Looking at this pic of the "Fish-Bird" art piece it looked like some kind of stealth plane or UFO approaching … Continue reading Stealth plane on the Donkin?
Donkin Reserve from the Campanile
Looking towards the Donkin Reserve from the viewing deck at the top of the Campanile one can clearly see how big the South African flag flying up there is. The Donkin Lighthouse and Pyramid can be seen on the left with the King Edward Hotel and the Grey Institute next to it.
Cape Recife in the distance
The western point of Algoa Bay is called Cape Recife and it is surrounded by the Cape Recife Nature Reserve. The beach on the Algoa Bay side of the point is the kind of beach that is close enough to the city to be accessible, but far enough for a person to just get away from … Continue reading Cape Recife in the distance
