Drama Princess (in the long tights second from the right) belongs to a Trampoline and Gymnastics Club and her coaches also run the Jungle Gym Kids programme at various pre-schools and creches around town. They were asked to do a display in the main arena at Saturday's St Dominic's Priory Fate and the crowd watching them seem to have … Continue reading Jungle Gym Kids display

Tour of South Africa
Yesterday the third leg of the Cell C Tour of South Africa cycle race took place in and around Port Elizabeth. The 177 km leg started at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and took them out past Motherwell and around the Addo Elephant National Park. From there the riders headed back to the city via … Continue reading Tour of South Africa
Stadium skydiver
Part of the halftime entertainment during Friday night's rugby game between the Southern Kings and the Free State Cheetahs was a skydiver landing in the stadium. The guy had everybody on the edge of their seats as it seemed like he just cleared the railing on the top of the stadium roof on his way in. Perhaps … Continue reading Stadium skydiver
Schools athletics at the Oval
I went to Chaos Boy's school athletics meeting at the Westbourne Oval the other day and all the memories from years gone by (long ago) of competing there came flooding back. The noise on the stands, the chanting, the starter's pistol firing, the smell of the track in the heat, sore legs, dry mouth and the joy … Continue reading Schools athletics at the Oval
Equestrian champs
The South African Junior Equestrian Championships have been taking place at the Port Elizabeth Riding Club over the last week or so. I've seen the sport on television, but it was the first time that I actually sat next to the ring (see how little I know of it, cause I'm sure the arena isn't … Continue reading Equestrian champs
Kite flags
If I ever had to encounter a flag pole like this one somewhere on a deserted beach my first reaction would be to try and find the shipwreck survivors that put it up. This particular one doesn't belong to any stranded souls but played some kind of role in this weekend's kite surfing at Bluewater … Continue reading Kite flags
Full house
Full house at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium for the EP Kings' last game of the season a couple of weeks ago. It was the second leg promotion / relegation game against the Pumas and unfortunately the Kings didn't win which means another year in the first division. On the up side. Most of the … Continue reading Full house
Soccer City
As we entered Johannesburg on our recent visit, Chaos Boy asked if we were in Soccer City now. I was very impressed that he associated Soccer City with Johannesburg. He was of cause not refering to the city itself, but to the soccer stadium where the final of the recent 2010 FIFA World Cup took … Continue reading Soccer City
Newton Park fun run
This past weekend we took part in Newton Park Primary School's annual fun run. A day or so before the event I was asked by one of the organisers if I wouldn't mind taking pictures as their regular photographer wasn't available. As a parent who doesn't always have the opportunity to be too involved in the … Continue reading Newton Park fun run
St Georges walkway
Walking down one of the paved walkways in St Georges Park towards the St Georges Park Cricket Stadium. The part of the stadium visible is the Duckpond Pavilion which is named after the old duckpond situated under the palm tree on the left. Unfortunately there are no ducks still living there today.
