Yesterday I had a stunning day out showing South African Tourism photographer Max Marx around this beautiful city I call home. I have to admit that I have stopped being amazed at how amazed visiting journalists are when they see how much Port Elizabeth has to offer and how beautiful the area is. As somebody who really loves PE … Continue reading PE is a photographer’s dream

Diving lessons
I'm a qualified scuba diver but I haven't "blown bubbles" as they say for probably 10 years. So I was very excited when Ocean Divers International (ODI) invited a couple of us from the office for an educational. Two of us had dived before while the other four were all virgin divers. It was such an amazing … Continue reading Diving lessons
Merry Christmas (from a beach in Africa)
The traditional Christmas one always sees is a white Christmas with snow, a fireplace and all kinds of wintery things. But more than half the earth actually has a summer Christmas where Santa should probably be wearing board shorts and slops while driving an open top vehicle and enjoying the sun. When Santa isn't going … Continue reading Merry Christmas (from a beach in Africa)
The sun shines on the Wildside
The coastline from Cape Recife to Schoenmakerskop is generally known as the Wildside due to it rocky coastline and the fact that the prevailing south-easterly wind can pump out there on the best of days and make the sea well and truly rough. Don't get me wrong though, the weather isn't always bad and when … Continue reading The sun shines on the Wildside
Glittering Cape Recife
The water around Cape Recife (and not some pretty boy vampire) glittering in the morning light. Real vampires don't glitter in sunlight anyway cause they would be incinerated. #justsaying
Beachview
Looking east from Maitlands Beach, the houses you see in the distance is Beachview. Beachview and neighbouring Seaview and Kini Bay are suburbs of Port Elizabeth although they are situated about 20 km out of town along the Seaview Road. Most of the houses in these areas have fantastic sea views and it isn't hard to … Continue reading Beachview
Foggy day
We get two types of fogs (does that sound right?) here in Port Elizabeth. The first is when we get up in the morning to milky clouds all around us. Often this is a sign that the day will be very hot once the fog burns away. The second type of fog is when we … Continue reading Foggy day
Lister Memorial
The area along Port Elizabeth's southern coastline which is reached via Marine Drive is where the Driftsands area can be found. In the late 1800's the movement of sand dunes towards the town was very worrying to the town council and plans were devised to stop the sand from "invading" and overrunning Port Elizabeth. One of … Continue reading Lister Memorial
Cape Recife coast
Looking back at the point at Cape Recife from one of the view points on Marine Drive. The lighthouse is visible on the left and the reef runs out for a couple of kilometres from the rocky coastline on the right.
Flat Rocks
The area between Pollock Beach and Cape Receive is generally known as Flat Rocks. The name refers to the rocks stretching out to sea at low tide. The rocks are easily accessible and is very popular fishing site. Some of the older Port Elizabeth followers will remember the old Flat Rocks Roadhouse which was situated … Continue reading Flat Rocks
