Flowering Aloe

There are few flowers, in my mind, that comes close to the aloe when in full flower. Driving through the countryside and seeing hundreds of these magnificent flowers in full bloom makes me want to stop and pull out my camera. This one I photographed in the Gamtoos Valley west of Port Elizabeth.

  1. Sorry I haven't visited in a while. Busy with back to school (for me). I have never seen one of these flower! Of course, on this side of the globe, they are novelty houseplants. (I would gladly trade your few more weeks of sun for our few less weeks of rain.)

  2. I agree – aloes are striking! You've captured this one well! Previous post – didn't know there was a wreck on that side of the bay – must look at my photos from Signal Hill – would it be visible, I wonder? or is it too far? Rather ugly though – spoils the scenery, I think!

  4. Excellent!I wonder what such a flower would look like, and what photographs one could get, with the flower potted and against a solid background. Just pondering what could be.
