Ice Cream Bush

I love my Ice Cream Bush at home with its leaves in various shades of pink, cream and green.  The botanical name of the Ice Cream Bush is Breynia disticha ‘Roseo-picta’ and its also known as the Snow Bush.  The bush is evergreen or should I say everpink/geen.  According to my research they are native to the Pacific Islands, like lots of water and usually grow up to three feet tall although my one stands as high as the roof.

  1. I agree with you It is a privelege to have an ice cream bush in the Garden. Their first new leaves after the winter are so stunningly pink, green and craem.

  2. I have a couple that gets morning sun and shade for the rest of the day and they grow fast. I have another one standing in the full sun which doesn't grow that fast though

  3. We have about 10 bushs growning around our garden. They seem to grow a lot taller when planted next to a wall. Our tallest of the lot get a little morning sun and then the last two hours of afternoon sunlight. This is in South Africa so our spring season starts in September. But these hardy plants will grow almost anywhere as I have bonsai'd many of these bush years back including plating a few that still grow beautifully in my grandmothers garden.
