I climbed to the top of the Campanile with a reporter from the local newspaper the other day. Problem is that before you get to the top you have to climb 204 steps to get there. The view really does make up for the effort though. Here are 2 of 204 steps… Don’t look up, just get your rhythm and keep climbing.

Great stairway steps photo but I think I'm already getting dizzy!

I remember the other photo of the campanile. Good to know that you made it to the top!

Daunting, for sure! I've climbed a few of these circular staircases over the years. Usually worth the effort, though.

I always find gong down a lot of staris worse – you get dizzy and your legs end up shaking! On the way up, it's just the breathlessness 🙂 love the vertigo-inducing shot!

Every time I've been there its been open, so you must be having bad luck. I know the guy who used to man it retired not long ago and they may have had staffing problems for a little while. There is a new person there now and they are busy painting and restoring the exhibitions as well as the area around the Campanile. Opening times are Mon – Fri 08:00 – 16:30 and Sat and Sun from 09:30 – 15:30.
