Misty Morning Sunrise

Shark Rock Pier, early morning last winter, chilly but worth it! Standing on the pier looking out across the sea, the sun struggling to break through the mist.
Turning to look the other way, and we see part of the beachfront, with the remains of the mist hovering over it. The red roofs are from the Courtyard Hotel.

Water droplets from the moist air have gathered on the wooden railings of the Pier.

A magical morning, followed by a hearty breakfast in a nearby restaurant overlooking the sea.

  1. Gorgeous photos, really very lovely! The lighting in the first and last, and the colors in the second, are really striking. :)Michellehttp://arlingtondailyphoto.com/photoblog

  2. It’s amazing to see the amount of people on the beachfront around sunrise in winter. In summer its another story. Then sunrise is before my wakeup time. But in winter I try to be on the pier at sunrise whenever I can. A bit difficult though when you live on the other side of town.

  3. The first photo, well, awesome doesn’t even begin to describe it. Your photography is remarkable. Ever thought of gathering your best shots (well, that’d be all of your shots LOL!) on a page with a format like this one?Have a nice weekend! 🙂

  4. thanks all. Yes firefly, I was amazed at the traffic too, it was still almost dark when we arrived, and pretty cold, but an old couple were going for a swim…ok make that MAD old couple!!… and several fishermen were getting started, and boats being launched.fenix ((((beam))) kind words! I checked the link, but i don’t like those sites with only one photo per page, it takes too long to click through, especially if you don’t know what is ahead. Maybe if the front page was thumbnails and you could choose it would work… mmm will give it some thought!
