Last night the annual Opening of the Season fireworks took place at Hobie Beach after it was postponed due to rainy weather the previous night. I really didn’t feel like taking on the crowds and traffic jams on the beachfront for a couple of pictures, so I decided to head up to Lovemore Heights to see if I can get a glimpse from there. It wasn’t the best vantage point as you could only see the high fireworks from there, but I wasn’t alone. There were quite a few people there with me who didn’t want to do the crowd thing.

Amazing photos of the fireworks. This way I can appreciate them. I don’t myself like the loud bangs and my other dog always gets petrified. Over here the season of fireworks seems to span from mid December to mid February even if the law states otherwise. This is of course private people and especially kids with their bangers and such. Pain in the back side it is really. However viewed like this on these brilliant shots they do look very beautiful indeed.Whishing you happy sky watching and a very merry Xmas.

I’m just catching up with the gorgeous photographs on your fabulous blog. The white rhino is amazing!I am soooooo envious that summer is just starting down there. It is minus 9 in Port Alberni, on Vancouver Island where I grew up. Tomorrow it will be minus 17 in Vancouver with the wind chill. So I am going to visit your blog every day for the next little while, and absorb some of that wonderful South African sunshine!I hope you and your family have a wonderful Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.Cheers!

What beautiful photographs. I see that I have a setting on my little camera for taking shots of fireworks. Haven’t had the opportunity though, but am dying to try. In-laws live in PE – wonder if they popped past to see the display!?
